Episode 8 - May 28, 2020

Updated: Jun 17, 2020

Our team is back this week with our 8th video in our Coping with COVID-19 as a Family series - In this episode, we talk directly to those on the other side of the computer screen from them – the helpers. The people in the broad range of disciplines and fields who have dedicated their careers to supporting children and families through education, early intervention, medicine, therapy and other family supports. We know that this has been really hard for you as well. Click the link below to watch and for some additional resources.

We know that you have worked hard to fit work into your homes, while balancing the needs and adjustments of your own families – and we have heard from many of you that it has been hard to feel very effective, in the same way you are used to in your work. Families often don’t have the time or ability to translate your interactions or interventions with them directly into the home setting.

Here is an additional resource that discusses from the educators perspective but can be applied to anyone in the helping professions trying to support families through tele-outreach.

As always, please reach out and email us at piec@ssw.umaryland.edu if we can be of support to you, your programs, your communities and your families. Also, visit The Institute’s web page dedicated to COVID resources that is regularly updated: https://theinstitute.umaryland.edu/covid-19/ for a wealth of resources and guidance to support your programs and communities. This is where you will find the interactive map that details tele-health services by state.

Be well and be in touch!
